Bruce Freshwater, CEO/CTO, founded Sierra and, while still running the organization as its Chief Executive, also guides its technical services and the evolution of its internal infrastructure.
Bruce has been responsible for management of client network infrastructure for organizations ranging in size from SOHOs to large Enterprises. Bruce also oversees all of Sierra’s daily operations, both in-house and at its Downtown Pittsburgh Data Center. Since Sierra’s inception, the organization has seen substantial annual growth. Sierra has expanded its Data Center hosting services through its sister organization, Sierra Data Centers, where Mr. Freshwater serves as the Chief Technology Officer.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Freshwater was the CEO and Founder of Innovations in Technology (InnovationsTech), functioning in similar roles to those that he holds at Sierra. Mr. Freshwater was responsible for InnovationsTech’s business model, expanding the organization’s coverage across 20 states and continually increasing the organizations revenue and profitability. Mr. Freshwater divested of the Innovations Tech in 2006.
Mr. Freshwater has served in Information Technology and electrical/digital engineering roles since 1992, where he started his career in engineering as a Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Journeyman in the United States Air Force. While on active duty, Mr. Freshwater specialized in laboratory electrical measurement, calibration supporting Type A/Depot engineering, and metrology.
Mr. Freshwater continued to expand his knowledge and skillset following his tour with the Air Force by moving to Woodgroup Gas Turbines in Anchorage, Alaska to work with Alyeska Pipeline as a Calibration, Digital Control, and Computer Engineering specialist. Mr. Freshwater returned to Pittsburgh to be closer to his family and joined the Air Force Reserves as a Computer Systems Operations Journeyman. Mr. Freshwater was also an instructor, teaching of Microsoft Certified System Engineer courses and CompTIA A+ and Network+ courses at multiple area universities.
Mr. Freshwater received extensive training from the Community College of the Air Force and from the University of Anchorage Alaska. He has also received extensive technical instruction from organizations such as Microsoft and Cisco.
Bruce and his beautiful wife Stacy reside in North Fayette. The couple began dating and married shortly thereafter. Sierra, Mr. Freshwater’s oldest child, is the foundation for the company name. Together, the Freshwater’s have 4 beautiful children. The family is very active in the community and proud to call Pittsburgh home.
Stacy Freshwater has served as the CFO/HR Director at Sierra w/o Wires, Inc. since 2007. In her current role, she administrates all necessary items regarding new hires, payroll, expenses, health insurance, and paid-time off for employees. She also monitors every aspect of the finances and accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and relationships with Sierra distributors.
Prior to her role at Sierra, she held many roles at MARC USA from 1999-2007. During her tenure at MARC USA, as a Desktop and Collaboration Systems Manager, she managed all PC systems, including standardizations for all desktop users, administration of all collaboration systems, coordination of Emergency Response for Desktop Systems and Extensive Terminal Services utilization. Furthermore, in this role she provided Tier II/III Help Desk support for all corporate applications. In her role as a Help Desk Supervisor/Administrator, she planned the migration to Active Directory from Windows NT, produced and implemented trainings for Microsoft Office and the New Hire Orientation Program at MARC USA.
Stacy Freshwater received her B.S.B.A from Robert Morris College, Moon Township, Pennsylvania in 1999. Stacy has been a CFO of the Year finalist in 2015, 2014, and 2012.
Stacy Freshwater currently resides in the Pittsburgh area with her husband, Bruce Freshwater, and four children, Sierra, Tanner, Spencer and Skylar.
Director of Sales
As Director of Sales, Chad Thimons is responsible for driving sales for Sierra Experts, with a focus on growing the company’s enterprise, small and medium size channel. Chad brings to the position a successful track record of more than 21 years that includes leadership positions and recognized sales achievements in the tech industries. Chad specializes in forming strategic alliances and programs that add value to the customer relationship.
Chad and his wife Tracy reside in Murrysville. Together, they have 3 beautiful daughters, Brynnlee, Brielle and Blakely. Outside of work Chad enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is also an avid Steelers fan.
NOC Manager / Service Delivery
Josh Knox is the Manager of our Support team and a member of our Service Delivery department here at Sierra Experts. He has been a valued member of our Sierra family for over 6 years. Josh oversees all of Support projects, interactions with customer relations, and works closely with all of our Engineers.
Before joining Sierra Josh attended Pittsburgh Technical College for Network Administration. After graduation, he moved on to become an IT Coordinator for a behavioral health practice that had over 20 sites across the United States. Josh was responsible for handling all of the day-to-day IT needs along with any issues that were reported on hardware/software throughout their network.
When he is not working, Josh enjoys spending time with his family and friends; relaxing with his two dogs, Molly and Jasper; discovering new restaurants; and flipping houses with his stepfather.
Manager, IT Engineering
Michael Chernay is the Manager of IT Engineering here at Sierra. As both Engineer and Manager, he is involved in Sierra Experts’ day-to-day operations as it relates to the Network and Server Operations Engineering teams.
Michael leads the Sierra Experts server and network operations team on improving processes, technology, and efficiency. He’s also responsible for system design and architecture of internal and customer systems, as well as the day-in and day-out management of internal and customer systems. He maintains a focus on ensuring the design, operation and maintenance of systems adheres to accepted standards and best practices, while also accommodating customer design and budget requirements. Overall, Mike keeps a recurring focus on ensuring all designs, systems and processes are up-to-date.
Before employment with Sierra Experts, Michael attended Penn State University, initially in Electrical Engineering, before moving on to Information Systems and Technology.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Morgan; and dog, Bela. His free time is spent enjoying time with family, cooking, and listening to music.
Application Development and Development Operations Manager
Aaron Brown is the manager of Sierra Experts’ Application Development and Development Operations teams. Aaron oversees everything from vast custom software projects to network appliance configurations.
Aaron handles requirements gathering and project specification, and works closely with our development engineers and graphic design team to deliver flexible, robust, and aesthetically pleasing software and appliance solutions.
Before being promoted to his current role, Aaron was an application engineer at Sierra. Prior to joining the Sierra Experts team, he worked at Aethon for several years as a software engineer.
Aaron attained an Advanced Technical Certificate in Electronics Technology, from the Crawford Area Vocational Technical School, and later an Associates in Science from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute.
Outside of work, Aaron enjoys gaming, tinkering, camping, and fishing.
Savannah received her Associates Degree in Graphic Design from Pittsburgh Technical Institute (now Pittsburgh Technical College). While working on her degree she also completed coursework and built a solid foundation in Web Design.
Day-to-day at Sierra Experts, Savannah leads all of the internal and customer creative initiatives. Her role includes creating, implementing, and managing the company’s brand, as well as handling the graphic design on our websites, social media platforms, and through email marketing. In addition, she’s the lead on all customer graphic and web design projects. Depending on the task at hand, she can be seen working closely with the development and sales teams. Savannah’s role extends to marketing where she often uses her design background to help engage prospects, drive sales, and raise brand awareness.
When she’s not working, Savannah enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and fiancé, Jake; working out at OrangeTheory; traveling; playing with her cats; drinking wine; and taking on freelance graphic design jobs.
Jennifer Noah attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a BS in Fashion Retail Management.
Throughout her career she gained a wealth of applied knowledge on how to sell, manage and deliver results in marketing and advertising. She has extensive experience using traditional and non traditional channels for a wide range of industries. In addition, she exercised her creativity as an event planner promoting and producing several fashion, dance and entertainment events in the local Pittsburgh area.
She then jumped head first into ‘all things digital’ embracing the advanced technologies we have today in data tracking and marketing automation. She was driven to keep up and fully understand the technical details so she became certified in all Google ad platforms, social media advertising, email marketing and analytics.
Her role with Sierra Experts as the Marketing Strategist involves extensive analysis and research to uncover opportunities for better online presence, stronger SEO and data driven recommendations. She and her team can deliver on all forms of digital advertising utilizing the best in marketing technology provided by our in-house team of developers and engineers. Jennifer is driven by challenge and welcomes even the most unique types of businesses to uncover solutions.
Her favorite thing to do outside of work is being active in the gym, discovering new restaurants and cuisine and cuddling with her Yorkie.
